Digital infrastructure is the code, policies and standards powering the technology that permeates every aspect of life, such as hospitals, banking and social media. This infrastructure is under-maintained and undermined in ways that often favor corporate and government interests over the needs of the public.

Ford Foundation’s Digital Infrastructure grantmaking addresses these challenges by supporting research on how public interest and digital infrastructure interact, transformational efforts to make the internet more secure, safe and reliable, and new civil society organizations that ensure the public interest isn’t ignored in the critical decisions about how we build and maintain this infrastructure.
