Join George McCarthy, Ford’s director of Metropolitan Opportunity, for an online conversation about building socially just cities. On the TED Conversations platform, we’re asking the world: How can we build cities that are sustainable, inclusive and truly just? How do we ensure that our growing metropolitan centers are shaped by equity, opportunity and a commitment to shared prosperity?
We want to hear from those of you who champion a more inclusive vision of your cities, and learn more about the metropolitan areas that are embracing fairness and a commitment to shared prosperity. Together with our partners at TED, we are reading every response carefully, looking for innovations and ideas in social justice that are easily replicable in urban areas.
In September, we partnered with TED as it hosted TEDCity2.0. At this day-long event, leading urbanists, designers and artists—including photographer Iwan Baan, civic technologist Catherine Bracy, U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and New York City Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan— discussed the future of the world’s cities. These conversations are available to watch online.
If we can embrace density, diversity and smart policies and planning, we can turn rapid urban development into a powerful vehicle for social change. Join us.
