“How to Survive a Plague,” the acclaimed JustFilms-supported documentary about a group of activists who helped transform AIDS from a death sentence into a treatable disease, has been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
Since premiering at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2012, “How to Survive a Plague” has garnered numerous honors (including being named Best Documentary by the Gotham Awards, Best First Film by the New York Film Critics Circle and winner of the Jaqueline Donnet Emerging Filmmaker Award at the Ida Awards) and been ranked among the best films of the year by more than 25 critics.
The Ford Foundation is proud to support this powerful film, which documents an important chapter in the history of social change and contains meaningful lessons for those working to further the rights and dignity of all people.
The winner of the Academy Award for Best Documentary will be announced during the ceremony and live telecast on Feb. 24.
