Geeta Uhl is a global program officer with the foundation’s Natural Resources and Climate Justice (NRCJ) program. She leads efforts centered around decarbonization of energy systems and at the intersection of forest governance and protection, with a focus on climate justice.

Prior to joining Ford, Geeta was a foreign service environment officer at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) for over 12 years, where she managed biodiversity, forestry, renewable energy, and climate adaptation projects in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. She was most recently based in Southern Africa, leading just energy transition and sustainable finance projects and partnerships. Before USAID, she supported sustainable urban planning for New York City’s Economic Development Corporation; she also worked for several international NGOs focused on forest management and protection, climate adaptation, and community microfinance. 

Geeta holds a master’s of public administration in environmental science and policy from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in foreign service and environmental studies from Georgetown University.
