Ernesto Alejandro Espin Diaz is an interim grants officer on Ford’s Civic Engagement and Government, and Technology and Society teams. Experienced in social impact, grantmaking, and engaging with civil society, governments, and organizations to advance social and humanitarian causes that promote equity and justice in societies.
Before joining the foundation, Ernesto worked at the Open Society Foundations for 7 years; most recently, he worked as analyst for the Latin America and Caribbean program, supporting programmatic strategies, leading, monitoring and evaluating multi-stakeholder initiatives and grants of large, medium, and small scale. Before that, he worked as a volunteer for 10 years as coordinator for a non-profit organization in New York, serving the Ecuadorian, undocumented and Dreamer community through fundraising, social impact, stakeholder engagement, and cultural campaigns.
Ernesto was a congressional fellow for senator Cory Booker in Washington D.C in 2015, and a HIP Lideres Fellow for Hispanics in Philanthropy in 2019. Graduated from New York University with a master’s in international development and humanitarian assistance. A musician, reiki practitioner by choice and Dreamer/Daca recipient by chance.
