Summary Description
Lead the recruiting and staffing unit. Evaluate and (as appropriate) evolve policies, procedures and systems to ensure they reflect best practices and are aligned with and supporting the Foundation’s mission. Ensure sourcing, assessment and selection techniques result in the hiring of the most qualified and diverse talent. Develop and implement talent pipeline strategies to ensure future talent needs are met.
Establish strong internal relationships with management/hiring managers to stay current in their organization, operating environment and talent needs. Translate changes and needs into required skills and competencies, and develop effective/efficient search/sourcing strategy by area/discipline. Anticipate openings and as practical, proactively build and maintain database of potential candidates for key positions. Be seen by the organization as an effective HR partner who adds value and proactively recommends value-added strategies and tactics.
Position the function to assume the role of in-house search firm. Build internal capacity to assume full accountability for implementing sourcing strategies, interviewing/assessing candidates, and recommending slate of candidates for hiring manager consideration. Personally take the lead on selected searches. Manage communications with potential candidates concerning their status in the hiring process.
To supplement internal capacity, build a stable of search consultants and firms to support global staffing needs. Evaluate current vendor agreements; negotiate fee arrangements and effectively manage on-going vendor relationships. Participate in/develop peer networking groups for sharing of best practices and potential talent.
Establish performance metrics (qualitative and quantitative) for evaluating the Staffing function’s effectiveness. Integrate learnings into operational enhancements. Assess systems/data/reporting needs; implement solutions to address needs. Leverage the internet and social networking as a marketing and sourcing tool and to position the Foundation in the best possible way. Enhance/evolve/maintain the Foundation’s employment website.
Serve as a member of the Human Resources leadership team. Lead, coach and develop members of the Staffing function.
Qualifications
Minimum of ten years experience in recruiting and staffing, including leading/managing a staff, preferably with a major not-for-profit organization (which could include healthcare, higher education, non-governmental organization, public service, charitable institution, foundation, museum or other arts organization) and a public corporation. Search firm experience would be a plus. Demonstrated experience sourcing high quality candidates for openings across all areas of the Foundation (i.e. Program, Investments, Communications and Administration). Prior experience designing and managing hiring systems is required. The ability to establish excellent working relationships and outstanding interpersonal and communications skills are essential.
Preferred Qualifications
College degree is required and an advance degree is preferred.
