Jerron Herman is a dancer, writer, moderator, and advocate for the arts who is compelled to disrupt ideas of restriction with images of freedom. Originally finding his way to dance through his background as a playwright, he was a principal member of Heidi Latsky Dance from 2011 to 2019, an integrated dance company that aims to dismantle normal and redefine virtuosity. Herman’s performances have been experienced at Lincoln Center, Whitney Museum of American Art, Danspace Project, and Performance Space New York. His latest works include: Breaking and Entering with Molly Joyce; Many Ways to Raise a Fist, for the 29th Anniversary of the ADA at the Whitney Museum; and Relative—a crip dance party—for the disabled-led arts festival I WANNA BE WITH YOU EVERYWHERE. As an advocate for disabled athletes and performers, he has collaborated with Nike and Tommy Hilfiger and has produced commissioned projects for CreativeMornings, The Whitney, and Danspace Project. Herman has served on the Board of Trustees at Dance/USA since 2017. He studied at the Tisch School of the Arts and The King’s College.
