Ximena Warnaars is part of the Natural Resources and Climate Change team, focusing on issues related to the extractive industries and working in collaboration with the Civic Engagement and Government team.
Trained as an anthropologist, Ximena has worked in support of human rights, indigenous peoples’ rights, and environmental justice for nearly 15 years, with a focus on mining and oil conflicts involving indigenous communities in Latin America. Prior to joining Ford in 2016, she set up EarthRights International’s regional office in Peru, where she worked for five years. She also served as Peru adviser on the Andes Advisory Board for the Global Greengrants Fund.
Ximena holds a PhD from the University of Manchester’s School of Environment, Education, and Development in the United Kingdom, as well as master’s and bachelor’s degrees in anthropology from the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands.
