Kevin Ryan is a senior program officer on the Civic Engagement & Government team. He leads the foundation’s grantmaking in Detroit, focusing on housing and community development, civic engagement, and youth opportunities.

Prior to joining Ford in 2017, Kevin spent more than 14 years as program director at the New York Foundation, where he managed a portfolio of grants for organizations that use community organizing, advocacy, and community development strategies to create systemic change for a more equitable New York. He also oversaw the foundation’s Capacity Building Program. Before that, he was executive director of Community Training and Resource Center, a housing preservation organization, where he provided leadership to a staff of tenant organizers working to improve housing conditions for low-income New Yorkers.

Kevin has served on the boards of Green Worker Cooperatives, La Lutta New Media Collective, the Neighborhood Funders Group, and the North Star Fund. He also chaired the New York City Youth Board, which advises the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development.

He holds degrees from the University of Michigan and the New York University Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
