Jim Gallagher is director of Grants Management, responsible for coordinating grants management functions throughout the foundation. In that capacity, he oversees Ford’s grant managers in New York and works closely with those in the regional offices to build teaming practices and strengthen grantmaking standards in support of program teams as they execute their strategies.

Previously, Jim worked as senior grants manager with several program teams where he was responsible for day-to-day grants management and continuous process improvements connected with the foundation’s grantmaking and program-related investments. Prior to joining Ford in 2010, Jim served as a grants manager for the John A. Hartford Foundation, the largest US private philanthropy dedicated to aging and health, and before that as a development manager for an international nonprofit organization focused on research, education, and advocacy around aging.

Jim earned a master’s degree in public administration from New York University’s Wagner School of Public Service and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Fordham University.
