Ana Joaquina Ruiz is a program associate in the Mexico and Central America office, where she supports the grantmaking team in the development, implementation, and monitoring of strategy.

Prior to joining Ford, she worked as an independent consultant working with UN Women, the UN Development Programme and organizations such as Open Heroines. Before that, she worked for civil society in Mexico for such organizations as the Leadership Institute Simone de Beauvoir and Fundar, focusing on research and advocacy projects.

Ana has published work on women’s political participation and the need to strengthen civil society, and she has been part of several activist spaces to promote participation.

She holds a master’s degree in political sociology and a BA in international relations.
