A leader and respected voice in the LGBTQ+ immigrant rights movement, Isa Noyola reflects on the challenges that trans leaders face in their activism on behalf of the community.
“If you think about our leadership, if you think about trans-led organizations, if you think about who is really at the forefront of this work, there are very few of us. Because so many of our leaders have been violently taken away from us. When I think about the trans women that started this work with me who are no longer with me, that actually has an impact in terms of my own ability to also step out and also be courageous for my community.”
