Rocio L. Córdoba

Rocio Córdoba's work focuses on supporting policies and programs to expand access to comprehensive sexuality education for the most marginalized youth and strengthening sexuality research that addresses diverse social and cultural dimensions.

Prior to joining the Ford Foundation in 2010, Rocio served as an attorney and policy advocate advancing reproductive and sexual health, rights and justice; gender equity and educational justice for more than 20 years. Most recently, she founded and was executive director of California Latinas for Reproductive Justice.

Previously, Rocio was a staff attorney with the ACLU of Southern California; a staff attorney with NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund; a staff attorney fellow with the ACLU's National Reproductive Freedom Project; the Kennedy/Coleman Fellow with the ACLU of Illinois in Chicago; and director of public affairs at UCLA's Institute for Democracy, Education, and Access. She has held various leadership positions, including serving as president of the California Coalition for Reproductive Freedom, vice president of the Los Angeles Commission on the Status of Women and as a mentor to the Women's Foundation of California's Women's Policy Institute.

Rocio speaks extensively to a wide range of audiences and the news media, and has been published in diverse news, online and academic publications, including The Huffington Post and the Harvard Women's Law Journal. Rocio received a law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and a joint B.A. in journalism and English from the University of Southern California.
