Ana Luisa Liguori works in the foundation's Mexico and Central America office. After many years of grant making in sexuality, reproductive health, and HIV to support the rights of the region's excluded women, Ana Luisa brings a wealth of experience regarding the intersection of gender, ethnicity, and class to the development of new lines of work in the regional office.

Ana Luisa joined Ford in 2007 after working for 12 years at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. She served as MacArthur's country representative in Mexico and had responsibility over the human rights and reproductive and sexual health and rights programs.

Prior to that, Ana Luisa worked for 22 years at Mexico's National Institute of Anthropology and History, where she conducted research on women and labor, Mexican sexual culture, and gender issues and AIDS. She is a member of the editorial committees of the British journal Culture, Health and Sexuality and the Mexican feminist journal debate feminista.

Ana Luisa was born in the United States and grew up in Mexico. She trained as a social anthropologist at Mexico's National School of Anthropology and History and holds a master's degree in communications from the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of Mexico's National Autonomous University, where she also completed a five-year cinema training course.

Ana Luisa Liguori trabaja en la oficina de la Fundación para México y Centroamérica. Después de muchos años de ser responsable de los portafolios relacionados con sexualidad, salud reproductiva y VIH para apoyar los derechos de las mujeres excluidas de la región, Ana Luisa aporta su vasta experiencia sobre las dinámicas de la intersección de género, etnia y clase al desarrollo de nuevas líneas de trabajo para la región.


Ana Luisa inició su desempeño en la Fundación Ford en 2007, tras haber laborado durante 12 años en la Fundación MacArthur. Ahí fungió como representante para México al frente de los programas de Derechos Humanos y de Salud y Derechos Sexuales y Reproductivos.


Previamente trabajó por espacio de 22 años en el Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia, donde llevó a cabo investigaciones sobre mujeres y trabajo, cultura sexual mexicana, género y SIDA. Es miembro del comité editorial de la revista inglesa Culture, Health and Sexuality, así como de la revista mexicana debate feminista.
