15 June 2009Ford Foundation Supports 2009 National Conference on Children and Youth Savings
The 2009 National Conference on Children and Youth Savings runs from June 14 to June 16 and is hosted by Ford Foundation grantee Corporation for Enterprise Development. The conference will look at the impact and scaleability of savings and asset-building programs on low-income families.
The Ford Foundation provided funding for the inaugural conference, which is being held in Brooklyn, New York. We have long invested in wealth-building programs — such as Children's Savings Accounts and Individual Development Accounts — to enable low-income people to enter the financial mainstream. To learn more about these and other foundation efforts, read Ford Reports (PDF file).
Featured conference speakers include:
- Dr. Michael Lomax, President and CEO, United Negro College Fund
- Dr. Michael Sherraden, Direcetor, Center for Social Development
- Gary Stangler, Executive Director, Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative
- Luis Ubiñas, President, Ford Foundation
