Meeting the challenges in Vietnam

The Ford Foundation began making grants in Vietnam in the early 1990s and was issued a license to establish an office in Hanoi in October 1996. During our first decade, we approved more than 550 grants to organizations and individuals in Vietnam, as well as to foreign institutions working for the benefit of Vietnam, totaling $71 million. In 2006, grant making in Vietnam reached $9 million per year. Our Vietnam office also makes grants in Thailand. (Updated 2008)
