Transforming our building

After-hours work permit variance at the Ford Foundation / 320 East 43rd Street

Most of the major work during the life of the project will be completed during regular construction hours, however, the project schedule will occasionally require work to be completed after regular hours. On Friday March 10, 2017 the construction team will be extending hours, and work will take place continuously from 8:00 AM Friday morning through 8:00 PM Sunday, March 12, 2017. On Monday, March 13, 2017 through Thursday, March 16, 2017 the crew will be using a back-up generator continuously between 3:00 PM and 10:00PM to facilitate the required building shut down. All work will be interior work and not expected to be visible to the outside.

For fifty years, the Ford Foundation’s headquarters has been a gem of New York architecture and a beacon for the social justice community. In October 2016, we began a major renovation and restoration project that will reinvigorate our building’s mission—ensuring that it works for far more people, is open to the public, and serves as an uplifting and energizing space for change.

The site logistics plan below provides a look at construction activity ahead. Please note that there will be increased trucking activity during construction.
