Robert S. Kaplan
TrusteeRobert Kaplan, a professor of management practice at Harvard Business School and a senior director of The Goldman Sachs Group, serves on the Ford Foundation Board of Trustees. He is a member of the board's Economic Opportunity and Assets; Investment; and Finance committees.
Kaplan served as interim CEO of the Harvard Management Company, the group responsible for managing Harvard's endowment, from November 2007 until June of this year. Prior to joining Harvard Business School in 2005, he served as vice chairman of The Goldman Sachs Group, with oversight responsibility for the Investment Banking and Investment Management divisions. He also served in various other capacities for the firm, including head of the Corporate Finance department.
Kaplan currently serves as chairman of Project A.L.S. and co-chairman of The TEAK Fellowship. In addition, he is council co-chairman of Harvard NeuroDiscovery Center Advisory Board and a member of the boards of Harvard Medical School, Harvard Management Company and The Jewish Theological Seminary. Kaplan also is a director of State Street Corporation, a member of the board of advisers of Miller Buckfire & Co., LLC, senior adviser to Berkshire Partners, and serves on the investment advisory committee at Google, Inc.
