Nicholas Gabriel
Vice PresidentNicholas Gabriel is vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of the foundation. His oversight responsibilities include setting the foundation’s spending levels and directing its financial operations, as well as accounting, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, tax and cash management.
Nick joined the Ford Foundation in 1982 as assistant controller and over the past three decades has played an increasing role in the stewardship of the foundation’s financial stability. He was promoted to controller in 1984 and to assistant treasurer in 1992. He was named director of financial services and treasurer in 1993 and chief financial officer in 2008.
Appointed vice president in 2010, Nick manages the foundation’s budgets, ensuring every possible resource is available for grant making. In addition to his day-to-day oversight of the foundation’s fiscal operations, he serves as liaison to the Audit and Finance committees of the Ford Foundation Board of Trustees.
Prior to joining the foundation, Nick was an audit manager at Deloitte & Touche. He is a licensed CPA in New York, a member of the New York Society of CPAs and is active in various community organizations. Nick is a contributing member of the Foundation Financial Officers Group, a national organization of financial officers from private foundations. He holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in accounting from Hunter College (City University of New York).
