J. Clifford Hudson
TrusteeJ. Clifford Hudson, chairman and chief executive officer of Sonic Corp., serves on the Ford Foundation Board of Trustees. He is chair of the board's Education, Creativity and Free Expression and a member of the Finance and Investment committees.
Hudson was named chief executive officer and president of Sonic in 1995 and elected chairman of the board in 2000. Previously, he was general counsel, chief financial officer and chief operating officer.
Having served on the board of trustees of the National Trust for Historic Preservation for ten years, Hudson is now its chairman emeritus. He is also chair of Georgetown University Law Center's Board of Visitors. His other board affiliations include serving as a trustee of the Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools, the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation and the University of Oklahoma (OU) Foundation.
In 1994, he was appointed by President Clinton to serve as chairman of the Board of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation, where he served until 2001. From 1999 through 2008, Hudson was engaged in a rebuilding plan and turnaround effort of the Oklahoma City Public Schools in which he co-chaired a process for raising $750 million.
He graduated from the University of Oklahoma and Georgetown University Law Center. In 1979, he served as an editor of the International Law Journal, a publication of the Association of Student International Law Societies.
