Afsaneh M. Beschloss

Trustee

Afsaneh M. Beschloss, president and chief executive of The Rock Creek Group, serves on the Ford Foundation Board of Trustees. She is chair of the Democracy, Rights and Justice Committee and a member of the Executive, Investment, and Management and Governance committees.

From 2001 to 2003, Beschloss was chief executive and chief investment officer of Carlyle Asset Management Group. Before joining Carlyle, Beschloss was treasurer and chief investment officer of the World Bank, and director of investment and manager of its Energy Sector Management Program. Earlier, she worked at J.P. Morgan in corporate finance in London and New York and for Shell International Group Planning in London. She taught international trade at Oxford University, from which she holds an M.Phil. in economics.

Beschloss is a trustee of Shakespeare Theatre Company, The Urban Institute and World Resources Institute. She also serves on the investment committees of American Red Cross, Smithsonian Institution, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and WETA Public Television and Radio.
